This winter experience the London spirit at its best, as famed Hyde Park is transformed, for yet another year, into a whimsical Christmas market!

Santa-lovers and Scrooges alike, all are bound to enjoy the festivities across one of the capitals largest parks. For the thrill-seekers Winter Wonderland boasts over 100 rides, from beautiful, gentle carousels to roller coasters that will make you scream. Our personal favourite is the Observation Wheel. On a good day you can enjoy magnificent London views! One should also be prepared to do some serious Christmas shopping as the stalls are full of interesting Christmas ornaments, clothes and bric-à-brac. We promise you won't get hungry with all the warm meals and sweet treats on offer! And if you get thirsty a stroll in the Bavarian Village and a cup of 'Gluewein' (mulled wine) will do the trick!

Winter Wonderland is on until January 3, and general admission is free!!

For those of us who have no time this year to visit Winter Wonderland, there is still a way we could bring some of its magic in our lives. The next recipe dedicated to you...

Spice up your cold nights with a warm cup of Mulled Wine!

Serves: 8 - 10 people
Cooks: in 45 minutes
Difficulty: Super Easy and Fun to make!

Plus, your home will smell like Christmas!

Ingredients:
2 bottles (750 ml each) of red wine (I go for dry)
260 - 300 ml orangeade, without bits (Tropicana Style)
max. 120 gr white sugar or 4 tbsp (spoonfuls)
3-4 cinnamon sticks
20 whole cloves
1/4 tbsp allspice
a few drops of vanilla
2 oranges
1 lemon (its juice)
& a big warm smile

Optional: 50ml brandy

Preparation
Step 1: Buy the ingredients

You may not love Christmas, but you've got to love mulled wine!
So, take a loved one, and make your way to the supermarket. Aim for two bottles of nice red wine. You can go for fruity or dry, depending on your preference, but steer clear of ready-made mulled wine. It may well be the easy way out, but why miss out on all the fun? Plus, home made always tastes better and your guests will definitely be impressed (they don't have to know that it's a super simple recipe!). Next stop, the fruit and vegetables section. I always go for 1 lemon and two juicy oranges. If you feel like it you can substitute the oranges with clementines for a sweeter result. Then, you need to choose the right spices: 3-4 cinammon sticks, 20 whole cloves, 1/4 tbsp allspice and a few drops of vanilla is all you need for the perfect mulled wine. You will also need some orangeade, white sugar and some brandy (if you feel you want to add a twist to the traditional recipe). A good friend to help you out with the shopping turns an everyday chore into a fun, shared activity; that's the first thing you need to know about mulled wine: sharing it is the main ingredient!

Step 2: Preparation
In a heavy bottomed pot bring the juice to the boil. Add the sugar, the cinnamon sticks and the allspice and leave to simmer. Cut the orange in half and squeeze in the juice. On the skin of the orange put the cloves and add the skin in the mixture. Simmer until you've got a beautiful thick syrup (add sugar if you need to). Then add the wine. Make sure that the blend is steaming but not boiling. Add the lemon juice and leave to boil for about 5-10 more minutes.

Step 3: Serve and Enjoy!
Pour your aromatic mulled wine not in wine glasses, but in mugs! Serve it when it's still warm and delicious!

Enjoy!!!
